Is your company environmentally friendly? +
We believe that being environmentally friendly is simply good business. Our environmental action plan is two-fold. We provide flexible packaging solutions that offer opportunities to lower the carbon footprint of products for our customers. The best example of significant carbon footprint reduction provided by our packaging solution is the Polynova barrier film pouches. With the advancement in plastic barrier technology, barrier packaging can provide as much protection for food products as tin cans, but the production and logistics of it consumes much less energy and is very easy to recycle. Another great example is our plastic air cushion bags (used for electronic goods) which can replace huge volumes of difficult to recycle Styrofoam type wrapping.
Regarding our own carbon footprint, we are definitely proactive! Upon consulting with our clients for specific applications, we use biodegradable additives in our film which degrades in 3-4 years. For other applications we use starch based resin or recycled resin. We also produce a wonderful reusable non-woven bag that is very durable and has a texture close to that of a woven fabric.
We also re-pelletize the majority of the scrap plastic in our plant and re-use it to make handle bags.
Please consult our sales engineer to discuss environmentally friendly packaging solutions for your own special products.

Our barrier pouch packaging is custom configured and engineered so it is able to withstand all the physical impacts that a traditional packaging would need to withstand, whether it is thermal impact or another physical impact such as tear, puncture, fall and compression.
According to the feedback from our customers one of the key advantages of plastic barrier packaging is that it is much stronger and less prone to damages during transportation and handling than traditional glass or tin-can packaging. Barrier pouches don’t break like glass, don’t get dents and don’t loose their labels like tin-cans.

Plastic barrier packaging has such a great environmental record. What is the reason that it hasn’t superseded all the traditional food packaging solutions? +
Plastic barrier packaging for food applications has been gradually winning market share in the food packaging industry. Barrier packaging has great environmental record and it ensures low carbon footprint for the products it is used for. The market share of barrier pouches is growing only gradually; this is due to the fact that upgrading the packaging lines and switching from traditional packaging to barrier packaging requires significant capital investment from the food processors. Nevertheless, both the feedback from our clients and the reports of the market analysts confirm the economic and environmental advantages of using barrier pouch packaging.
